The West Yorkshire Workshop is a fun, safe space where people come together to sharpen their acting skills and gain confidence by connecting with industry professionals, creating characters from the ground up and studying different styles and genres.
The adult workshops take place over a weekend (Saturday & Sunday) running from 10:00am-15:00pm. On day one, actors will be given a choice of two scenes to read and learn. Throughout the day, we will work on analysing the text, and building characters based on a character breakdown. On day two, actors will return with the scenes memorised off book (to the best of their ability). An industry professional will be joining us to focus on getting the performance to a place where it’s ready to be shot in an audition style format, giving one-to-one feed back and redirection. All recorded performances will be sent out individually to the actors.
The next generation workshops are a fun, safe and creative environment where teens can interact with like-minded people. These will take place on a weekday evening between 18:00pm-20:00pm. We will focus on improvisation, working off natural instincts and breaking down new scripts.

Samuel Bottomley is a BAFTA-nominated actor, most recently seen in Molly Manning Walker’s award-winning indie smash-hit HOW TO HAVE SEX, for which Samuel was BIFA-nominated. It has also recently been announced that Samuel will star in James McAvoy’s directorial debut, CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’, and in ANEMONE, opposite Daniel Day Lewis.
In 2022, Samuel was seen in Clerkenwell Films’ SOMEWHERE BOY on Channel 4, earning him a Best Supporting Actor BAFTA nomination. Prior to this, he also starred opposite Tim Roth in feature SUNDOWN, which made the official selection for the 2021 Venice Film Festival. He can also be seen in a standout role in EVERYBODY’S TALKING ABOUT JAMIE alongside Sarah Lancashire, Richard E. Grant and Max Harwood. He also leads Amazon feature GET DUKED!
In 2020 he starred in the three-hander film THE LAST RIGHT alongside Michael Huisman and Niamh Algar, winner of the Cork Film Festival Audience award. Samuel is probably best known for his role of RALPH in the much-loved series LADHOOD for BBC. Other credits include Channel 4's ACKLEY BRIDGE, feature film GHOST STORIES and ITV’s JERICHO in which he played the lead opposite Jessica Raine. Sam’s first role was in Paddy Considine’s hugely successful TYRANNOSAUR, with Peter Mullan and Olivia Coleman. Sam has facilitated workshops for craft masters workshop and act for tv.
